Bonewick Privacy Policy
Bonewick is a working title. The final name of the game may change before launch. If it does, this page continues to apply to the game under its new name, and we will update it and let you know.
1. The short version
- For all ages, with extra protection for young players. When you first open the Game it asks for your age. Players under 13 get a protected experience: a game-assigned name instead of a typed nickname, non-personalized ads, and no advertising ID or tracking.
- Signing in is optional. Anyone can play as a guest. Players 13 and older can choose to sign in with an Apple or Google account so their progress is saved and follows them across their devices and across 4 Birds Studios games that use the same sign-in. If you sign in, we receive limited account details from Apple or Google, such as an account ID and email address (see section 4), and never your password. Players under 13 cannot sign in and always play as guests.
- Leaderboard. Your scores are stored on our servers at Supabase and shown to other players next to a nickname. Players 13 and older can choose a nickname; younger players get an automatically generated one. Please never use your real name or contact details as a nickname.
- Ads. The Game shows ads from Google AdMob. Players under 16 get non-personalized ads. Players 16 and older may see personalized ads only if they allow it.
- No sale for money. We do not sell your personal information in exchange for money.
This Privacy Policy applies to the Bonewick mobile game (the "Game") for iOS (Apple App Store) and Android (Google Play), published by 4 Birds Studios LLC ("4 Birds Studios," "we," "us"). It explains what information the Game and the services it uses collect, how it is used, and the choices you and your parents have. It is written to meet the privacy requirements of both the Apple App Store and Google Play, and to protect children as required by laws such as the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
2. Information collected through the Game
The table lists what is collected when you play the Game, why, and who receives it. Some rows apply differently to players under 16; sections 6 and 7 explain how.
| Category | Examples | Why | Who receives it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account and sign-in information (only if you choose to sign in; players 13 and older) | Sign-in provider (Apple or Google), a unique account ID, your email address (or Apple's private relay address if you choose it), and your name or profile name if your provider shares it | To sign you in, save your progress, sync it across your devices and games, secure your account, and help you with support | Supabase (our service provider); Apple or Google as your sign-in provider. Never shown to other players |
| Progress, leaderboard and gameplay data | Your progress and game results, your nickname (or the name the Game gave you), your scores, your account ID (if you sign in) or a random player ID the Game creates for guests, timestamps | To save your progress, run the leaderboard, show rankings to other players, and prevent cheating | Supabase (our service provider). Your nickname and score are visible to other players |
| Age screen result | Whether you are under 13, under 16, or older | To turn on the right protections for ads and nicknames | Used by the Game on your device. We do not collect or store your date of birth |
| Connection data | IP address, time of request, app version | To deliver leaderboard requests, keep the service secure, and stop abuse | Supabase |
| Advertising and device identifiers | Advertising ID (IDFA on iOS if you allow tracking; the Android advertising ID), only for players 16 and older who allow it | To personalize and measure ads and prevent fraud | Google AdMob and its ad partners |
| Approximate location | City-level location inferred from your IP address (not GPS) | To deliver ads, follow local rules, and detect fraud | Google AdMob and its ad partners |
| Device and app information | Device model, operating system and version, language, app version, screen size, network type | To deliver ads that work on your device and keep the Game compatible | Google AdMob and its ad partners |
| Ad interactions | Ads shown and tapped, ad performance data | To measure ads and fund the Game through advertising | Google AdMob and its ad partners |
| Diagnostics | Crash logs, performance data | To keep the Game and ads stable and fast | Google AdMob; crash reports that Apple or Google make available to us if you chose to share them on your device |
| Information you send us | Your email address and message if you contact support or report a nickname | To answer you and keep the leaderboard safe | 4 Birds Studios only |
Information we do not collect
The Game does not ask for your phone number, date of birth, precise (GPS) location, contacts, photos or videos, microphone or camera data, health or fitness data, or payment card details, and we never receive your Apple or Google password. Players under 13 are not asked for, and we do not collect from them, any name, email address, or other personal information. Some settings are stored on your device.
3. How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Game, including signing you in, saving and syncing your progress, and the leaderboard, and to keep it stable and secure.
- To show ads, which help us offer the Game, and to measure how those ads perform.
- To review reports and remove inappropriate nicknames and cheated scores.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
4. Signing in with Apple or Google (optional)
Signing in is optional. You can play Bonewick as a guest. Players 13 and older who want their progress to be saved across devices can choose to sign in with Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. Apple or Google confirms who you are to us. We never see your password.
- What we receive. A unique account ID and, depending on the provider and what you allow, your email address (or Apple's private relay address if you choose to hide your email), your name or profile name, and possibly a link to your profile picture. We do not ask for your contacts, calendar, files, or photos.
- What we use it for. Signing you in, saving your progress and syncing it across your devices and across 4 Birds Studios games that use the same sign-in, protecting your account, and answering your support requests. Your email address and name are never shown to other players, and we do not use your email address for marketing without your consent.
- Where it is stored. Account information is stored by Supabase, our service provider, on our behalf.
- Playing as a guest. The Game creates a random player ID for you. Your progress and scores are saved on our servers under that ID, with no name or email address. Without an account, you may lose your progress if you uninstall the Game or reset your device, and it will not appear on another device. If you sign in later, your guest progress may be moved to your account.
- Players under 13 cannot sign in. They always play as guests.
- Disconnecting. You can remove the Game's access to your Apple or Google account in your Apple ID settings (Sign in with Apple) or your Google Account's security settings (third-party connections). To delete your Game account and data, see "Deleting your account" below.
5. Leaderboard and nicknames (Supabase)
The Game stores leaderboard data on Supabase, a cloud database service that acts as our service provider. Supabase may store this data on servers in the United States or in other regions where it operates, and it may use the data only to provide the service to us.
- What is public. Other players can see your nickname (or game-assigned name) and your scores and ranking. Nothing else is shown.
- Nicknames. Players 13 and older may enter a nickname. Players under 13 cannot type free text. They are given an automatically generated name. Do not use your real name, school, address, contact details, or other personal information in a nickname, and do not share it in one.
- Safety. Nicknames are checked by a filter, and any player can report a nickname from the leaderboard or by emailing us. We remove or replace nicknames that break our Terms.
- Player ID. Your scores are linked to your account (or, for guests, to a random player ID created by the Game), never to your name or email address on the leaderboard. Guests may lose access to their entries if they uninstall the Game or reset their device.
6. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The Game uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to show ads from Google AdMob and its advertising partners. Google and its partners may collect and use the information in the table above to deliver and measure ads. Google's use of this data is described here:
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services
- Google Privacy Policy
- AdMob data disclosure for Android and for iOS
Apart from Supabase (leaderboard) and Google AdMob (ads), the Game does not include any other third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking tools. If we add any, we will update this policy first.
7. Children and young players
The Game is designed for players of all ages, including children. When you first open the Game, it shows a neutral age screen. We use your answer on your device to apply these protections, and we treat any player whose age is not yet known as a child.
- Players under 13: no sign-in (they play as guests with a random player ID); no free-text nickname (the Game assigns one); no personalized or interest-based ads; ads that are appropriate for children and rated suitable for all ages, from ad services that meet Google's family-ad requirements; the advertising ID is not sent; and the iOS tracking prompt is not shown. The ad service may still receive limited technical information, such as an IP address and device type, that it needs to deliver and secure an ad. We use identifiers like the random player ID only to run the Game and leaderboard.
- Players under 16: non-personalized ads only. Players 13 to 15 may choose a nickname.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information (such as a name, email address, phone number, or precise location) from children under 13, and the Game has no feature that requires it. Signing in, which does involve an email address or name, is not available to children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without a parent's consent, we will delete it. Parents who believe their child has signed in should contact us.
- Parents and guardians can email support@4birdstudiosllc.com to ask what is stored about their child's leaderboard entry, to have it deleted, or to ask any question. Give us the nickname or game-assigned name and an approximate score so we can find it. We keep children's information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here.
8. Additional information for iPhone and iPad users (Apple App Store)
- Tracking permission. Apple requires apps to ask permission before tracking you across other companies' apps and websites. The Game shows Apple's tracking prompt only to players 16 and older. If you tap Ask App Not to Track, the Game does not use your IDFA. You can change your choice any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Players under 16 are never asked and are not tracked.
- Sign in with Apple. If you sign in with Apple, you can choose to hide your email address. Apple then gives us a private relay address that forwards messages to you. You can stop sharing in your Apple ID settings.
- Apple privacy details. The "App Privacy" information on the Game's App Store page summarizes the data practices described in this policy.
- Purchases. If the Game offers optional purchases, Apple processes payment. We do not receive your card details.
9. Additional information for Android users (Google Play)
- Advertising ID. The Game uses your Android advertising ID only for players 16 and older, and not for children or players whose age is not known. You can reset it, delete it, or opt out of ad personalization in Settings → Google → Ads (menu names vary by device). If you delete your advertising ID, the Game still works, but ads will not be personalized.
- Google Sign-In. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your account ID and the basic profile details you approve. You can review or remove the Game's access in your Google Account's security settings. Google Play also lists a link to our account-deletion page.
- Data safety. The "Data safety" section of the Game's Google Play listing summarizes the data practices described in this policy.
- Permissions. The Game uses internet access to load ads and the leaderboard. It does not request access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or precise location.
10. Consent in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland and are 16 or older, the Game shows a consent form (Google's User Messaging Platform, or an equivalent certified consent tool) the first time you open it. We use your information for personalized advertising only with your consent. You can review and change your choice at any time from the privacy options in the Game's settings menu. If you decline, you may still see ads, but they will not be personalized. Younger players are not asked and always receive non-personalized ads.
12. Your privacy choices and rights
Choices available to everyone
- Limit ad personalization or tracking: use the device settings described above (iOS: Tracking; Android: Ads) and the privacy options in the Game's settings.
- Stop all data collection by the Game: delete your account (see "Deleting your account") and uninstall the Game. Without deleting your account, your progress and leaderboard entries stay on our servers.
- Manage Google's ad profile: visit Google's My Ad Center.
EEA, UK, and Switzerland
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your data-protection authority. Our legal bases are your consent (for personalized advertising), our legitimate interests (running the leaderboard, security, fraud prevention, and non-personalized advertising), and legal obligations.
California and other U.S. states
Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
How to make a request
The fastest way to delete your data is in the Game (see "Deleting your account"). Otherwise email support@4birdstudiosllc.com from the email address on your account, or, for guests, with your nickname (or game-assigned name) and an approximate score so we can find your entry. We generally cannot link advertising identifiers to a person ourselves. For data held by Google or its ad partners, you may need to use the tools linked above. A parent or guardian may make a request for a child. We will respond within the time required by law.
13. Deleting your account
You can delete your account and its data at any time. Guests can delete their guest progress and leaderboard entries the same way:
- In the Game: open Settings → Account → Delete account (menu names may change).
- On the web: follow the steps at bonewick.4birdstudiosllc.com/delete-account.html, or email support@4birdstudiosllc.com from the email address on your account.
Deleting your account removes your account information, progress, nickname, and leaderboard entries from our servers. We complete deletion promptly and in any case within 30 days, except for limited records we must keep to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or prevent fraud. Backups are overwritten on their normal schedule. Data held by Apple, Google, or advertising partners is governed by their own policies.
14. Data retention
We keep account, progress, and leaderboard data while your account is active, and we may delete accounts and entries that have been inactive for a long time. Connection logs are kept by Supabase for a limited period under its own schedule. We keep emails you send us only as long as needed to help you. Advertising partners keep data under their own retention policies. We keep children's information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Information stored on your device is deleted when you uninstall the Game.
15. Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and access controls on our leaderboard database. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
16. International transfers
We are based in the United States. Leaderboard data and information collected by advertising partners may be processed in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Game or the law changes. We will post the new version here with an updated date, and where the law requires, including for any new use of children's information, we will seek the required consent first.
